Quick Stats [SoundCloud]

Quick Stats on iOS

Quick Stats surfaces creators’ key performance metrics from the past 7 days directly on the app homepage and Artist Studio page. The goal is to give artists a quick, motivating snapshot of how their content is performing, encouraging them to check the app regularly and stay engaged with the platform. In addition, the feature celebrates key milestones—such as reaching certain thresholds for plays, likes, and comments—prompting artists to share these moments with their fans and continue building momentum on SoundCloud.

Project Details

Duration: Ongoing
Team: I partnered with my Project Manager and Engineering lead on this Project, worked closely with the branding team, and constantly checked in with Design Manager during this process.
Role: Led the concept development and visual direction using SoundCloud’s brand assets, worked closely with the research team, conducted user testing across multiple design variations, and defined the UI component states and
interaction behaviors.
Status: Designs in progress

Expected Impact

  • Increase creator engagement by surfacing a quick snapshot of performance directly on the homepage and Artist Studio

  • Encourage creators to check the app regularly by making recent progress visible in a lightweight, easy-to-digest format

  • Reinforce creator motivation by celebrating milestones such as plays, likes, and comments

  • Encourage social sharing of milestones, helping creators amplify their growth and bring additional attention back to the platform

Problem Area

Many creators lack quick, visible signals that show how their content is performing on SoundCloud. Without easily accessible feedback on plays, likes, and engagement, artists may feel disconnected from their progress on the platform and are less motivated to return regularly or continue building momentum with their audience.

How might we highlight real examples of artist growth on SoundCloud to build trust in the platform and motivate creators to stay active?

CONCEPT PHASE

Preliminary concepts for UXR

I prepared a few design variations for user testing and documented any open questions I had to bring to user testing. I also worked closely with our research team to prepare a UXR script.

CONCEPT PHASE

UXR Findings

I made a presentation deck of the synthesized UXR findings with key insights, design opportunities, and design principles to inform and guide the future design.

Additional variant user testing

When I moved into high fidelity designs, I had a few open questions on what micro variation of designs would work best and resonate with artists. My research partner took the lead on these UXR sessions to help inform my design decisions.

Slide 1: Tested different notification treatments to determine which design best sparked curiosity and encouraged artists to click into the milestone card.

Slide 2: Tested different milestone layouts to understand which design resonated most with artists and motivated them to share their achievements with fans.

Final designs & components

We are still in the process of variant testing to figure out which milestone layout & notification treatment to go with,
stay tuned!
